Sharing a few tips on what you can do to smoothen the makeup process for both you and your MUA.
- Prep your skin
The night before – Scrub your face and lips. Put on your favourite hydrating facial mask too!
On event day – Do not use any skincare products on your skin. Keep in bare! As the skincare products might affect the makeup application. Just wash your face with your usual facial wash and ice your face before MUA arrives.
2. Prep your hair
Free Hair – Please wash your hair the night before your event with shampoo only (skip conditioner) and ensure its fully dry before going to bed. So that this gives more texture to your hair. It is very important to ensure your hair is fully dry before MUA arrives! This will help quicken the hairstyling process.
Hijab – Please ensure your hair is fully dry as well.
3. Ways to set up your room
Kindly prepare a comfortable chair (with back rest) for yourself and a table big enough for MUA to lay out the makeup tools. Best to have a plug nearby (or have an extension ready) if you have opted for hair styling service. If the space to place my makeup tools on is your bed/sofa, please prepare a big towel to protect your bedsheets!
4. Have it all ready!
Accessories – Check that all your accessories are with you and lay them out before MUA arrives (ie, ironed shawl, veil, tiara, earrings, bridal shoes etc). This will also help you to ensure that everything you need is ready and nothing is missed out!
Henna crystals/pearls – Have it ready and kindly get help from your bridesmaid to put them on for you!
Contact Lens – If you are wearing contact lens, please use it before MUA arrives as well.
5. Privacy please!
Ideally, please ensure it’s just you and MUA in the room during all makeup process, to avoid any distractions and to quicken the process. It is okay to have just one bridesmaid in the room in case we need her help.
Kindly ask your photographer/videographer to come in only after you are almost ready or fully ready (do not worry, you can still get your prep shots as we can act it out. That way, MUA will be able to fully focus on getting you ready which is so important. )
6. Outfit
Event/Engagement makeup – You may wear your outfit before MUA arrives. Kindly wear over a robe or towel to protect your outfit from any makeup fall outs.
Bridal outfit – If your outfit can be worn from bottom up, you may wear your outfit after makeup is done. Otherwise, please refer to the information above.
Looking forward to meeting you! (;
(These tips may or may not apply to your own MUA however, these are what I would advice my clients. Hence, it is best to check with your own MUA directly regarding what she/he needs (: )
